Aldo’s House

I have a certain respect for certain people in the world. Madison has been home to some world-class designers and thinkers who have influenced how we think and behave. This home once belonged to Aldo Leopold - one of our true Wisconsin heros.

Our staff has worked on some pretty great homes - including those designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and George Elmslie, and Louis Sullivan. But there’s something extra special about creating a nice walkway in front of Aldo Leopold’s old home - especially when we did something more than just make a walkway…. we also paid special attention to grades and stormwater management to protect the home’s foundation. Sometimes the beauty of something is below the surface. The system we designed to capture and move water away from the areas of the home made this project extra special.

It was nice to receive the following from the homeowner a few years after the installation,

“Hi Eric,

I wanted to give you an update on the front walk you installed. We love it! It looks great, we get lots of compliments on it, and it rained 2” last night- no flooding!

Thanks for the great workmanship. I don’t know whether you’re still crazy busy, but at some point we should talk about project #2….”
